About the Lotus Blossom Award

The Lotus Blossom Awards are “People’s Choice” style awards where you can both nominate and cast your vote. Here is your chance to honor your favorite China blogger.

  • ...is there one storyteller who touches your heart with their every post?
  • ...maybe a favorite videoblog or podcast that you love?
  • ...who inspired you to discover more about Chinese culture and relationships?
  • ...perhaps you like stories about China that tickle your funnybone?
  • ...or a website that makes you feel like you’re right there in China!

Congratulations to all the 2012 nominees!

Speaking of China - Jocelyn Eikenburg

Tales of Hebei - Kelly Sandor-Yang

Life Behind the Wall - Jo Gan

Also, worth mentioning are these two outstanding blogs which received votes without being nominated! I have a feeling that both will be nominated in 2013, they are exceptional:

Confused About Chinese Wedding Traditions?

I didn't have a clue what was going on at my own Chinese wedding! I have a good excuse though, because I got married before websites like Jina's existed. Jina created an easy-to-understand guide to making sense out of some of the strangest Chinese Wedding traditions you could imagine.

Ever wondered why a whole roast pig with tail is given to the bride's family? Or why the bride and groom will first enter the groom's family home under the pants of the groom's unmarried elder brother?
