I invited her to go with me to the Chinese embassy for a party. A got an invite through my own connections. First she accepted and she was happy about it because she didn't get an invitation.

But on the day of the party, I called her and she said that she does not want to come because the party will be full of Chinese people. I understand that maybe she does not want anyone to see her with me.
Then another day she needed a favor. So she called me to arrange it for her. I got 4 calls from her on the same day to follow up on this favor.
The last call was at 9 pm. I felt her voice commanding me as if she was in a big rush. So I directly asked her, “Why are you always in a rush? Did I do anything make you feel worried when you call me?”
She laughed and said, “No, why would l be worried or mad at you?” but still We ended the call fast.
Since that day we are not in contact. I know I need to contact her soon because she asked for another favor. I already booked some days off from my duties to finish her things. She must contact me because the final details must be done by her (because it is governmental papers and she must attend the last day to sign the papers).
Anyhow I decided to talk to her face to face. Even if she decides to not talk to me after that, I will tell her my feelings instead of torturing myself inside.
Victoria, I know I ask you a lot of questions but you are the only friend I can talk freely with.
My best regards,
Pedro
Victoria's response
Pedro ni hao,
First of all, thanks for your message!
I can totally understand why Xiao Lin first accepted your invitation happily, and then changed her mind later.
People at her age are concerned about their career and reputation. You two guys usually know each other for business. She is afraid the others would laugh at her and say bad words about her.
It is very easy for some to doubt her working ability, they would say that she got the chance to do business with you just because she's in a physical relationship with you... bla bla bla bla bla, a lot of bad words even if we both know that is not true.
Life is harsh to live and work in a country which has a different culture from yours, not to mention that Xiao Lin is a divorced, single and charming woman. When she did not show up at that party, it was just her own way to protect herself from being hurt by the others.
If you want to share with us what happens after you talk to Xiao Lin face to face...just feel free to contact us.
Best regards,
Next, will Pedro talk to her face to face?......more »
